satisfy any delegate’s interests, ranging from history to sci-fi to theater to modern day crises. The list goes on and there is a place for everyone. Taking a break from relaxing under our California sun, our enthused team of chairs and crisis directors are working this summer to create engaging background guides, remarkable crisis arcs, and useful delegate resources. We strive to create a collaborative conference, leaving delegates with an experience they will cherish for years to come.

During SBIMUN XIV, we will ensure that everyone of all backgrounds and abilities are included. We will prioritize inclusivity and will not stand for any exclusion and discrimination. All of UCSBMUN will take the measures necessary to cultivate inclusion and comfort for all delegates. Our goals follow those of the United Nations, which are to maintain peace, security, and uplift and defend human rights. We encourage delegates to remember that although the conference can be competitive, we are all in this together.

Importantly, I want all you delegates to know that participating in a Model UN conference is outstanding on its own. You are dedicating an entire weekend to utilizing your public speaking, communication, and critical thinking skills to develop solutions for global issues. That is something to be proud of. This activity will take you far in your life, providing you with one of the most important skills you will ever need: confidence. Confidence to speak in front of people about what you believe, confidence to share your ideas with others, and confidence to stand up against injustices. With that being said, I look forward to this conference and the creativity that will blossom this November!

Sincerely,
