Saving a Frozen Empire from Exile, Exhaustion, and Invasion

After five long years of exile in the Ottoman Empire, King Charles XII has returned to the Swedish throne!

The year is 1715. Sweden is under attack from all sides: Tsar Peter the Great of Russia is ready to invade from the east with a vast army. Poland-Lithuania and Denmark, previously defeated by Sweden, have re-entered the war and are determined to get revenge. Charles, currently in exile after his failed invasion of Russia, is returning to a nation shattered by war, whose armies were lost in the doomed invasion and whose populace is exhausted by decades of constant war. The Swedish Empire is in a dire situation, and its leading figures will now need to reconcile the political issues of their king’s return from exile, revitalize a broken country, and repel the hostile armies in order to save their kingdom from imminent defeat.

Noah Revell

Chair

Noah is a second-year Computer Science major from Orange County, California. Having discovered an unexpected passion for MUN in high school, he was thrilled to learn that not only did UCSB have a team, but he wouldn’t have to do General Assembly anymore. Now, he is proud to serve both as your Chief Editor of Crisis, and Chair of the Great Northern War committee. When he’s not slaving away over STEM assignments or getting his Crisis on, he enjoys scouring Wikipedia, arguing for indefensible takes, and dreaming of what it would be like to own a laundromat.

Evan Dicarlo

Co-Chair

Evan is a second-year Political Science and Economics major from Huntington Beach, California. He joined MUN his freshman year of high school and continued it at UCSB in college. He is thrilled to be co-chair for this committee. Outside of MUN, he enjoys watching basketball and ice hockey, being outside at the beach, and biking around Isla Vista.

Crisis Director

Sebastien is a second year Physics major from Sunnyvale, California. He joined MUN in his freshman year of high school and continued MUN in college, joining UCSB’s team in his first quarter in Fall 2025. He is incredibly excited to be Crisis Director for the Great Northern War committee and hopes you all enjoy the committee as much as we enjoyed making it. Outside of MUN when he isn’t crashing out over ridiculously difficult physics homework, he enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, running along our beautiful lagoon trail, cheering on the 49ers in football and the Canadiens in hockey, and reading up on whatever random thing interests him at a given time.
